MAY we go cycling?

Cinco de Mayo, May the 4th…..  May is such a FUN month! We are greatly appreciative to ALL of our donors for making cycling in East Texas so much FUN! Here is your monthly email to keep you updated and in the know:

Happened in April:

  • Rain, then more rain, and winter returned briefly. Sadly we had a few cancelled rides because of this.
  • We had a great ride and a good turnout for the Cushing Gravel Ride.
  • We had our Q1 Race Reimbursement night and though it was early in the season, we had 11 racers compete in 30 total races for Q1 this year. Can’t wait to see ALLLL the racing that happens in Q2. Keep up all the hard work.
  • Piney Woods Classic UCI race out in LA drew 55 of the  fastest MTB racers in the area and our Blake Keeling raced putting in some hard work finishing 43rd for the day. That same weekend out in Comfort at the Storm Hill Challenge, Cole Robinson and  Marybeth Keeling raced. Cole Robinson fought his way to a 7th place finish, and Marybeth sustained a hard crash in sight of the finish and was able to RUN like a beast to the finish snagging 1st place.
  • Shoutout to Darrell Atwood and Alyssa Integlia-Hankla on their 1st ever Ironman at Ironman Texas! What a show of hard work, dedication, grit and true tenacity to complete such a HARD event of 140.6 total miles. Very well done!

  • A very muddy Mary Beth Keeling snagged a well-deserved 1st place at the TMBRA 4RXC race in Muenster, and Donald Whaley came in with a hard earned 3rd place.
  • At the Junior Team party, Bradley walked away with the Golden Shoe award for going above and beyond in the race this month, in memory of Darrell Allen. Congrats Bradley!!
  • Thank you to everyone who helped with the Tyler Run for Autism on April 6th bike leadout.

What’s Happening in May:

  • The Rose City Cycling Chicks are meeting Saturday May 11 for a Volunteer Day.  We will meet at a trail and do a couple of hours cleanup to gain some volunteer hours.  An invite will be sent once a specific trail is determined.   After the cleanup, we will have a ride and snacks.  Also watch our Facebook page for pop up rides and pertinent information.
  • May 12th is the FINAL junior team NICA race out at 29 Pines! Please join us at any point on Sunday to cheer on our amazing kiddos in their final race of the season out in our backyard. Contact Justin Brown or Jason Keeling for more details. Look for the Rose City Racing tent and come out to this amazing venue and cheer for these kids!
  • Our Annual NICA Fundraiser is coming to a close May 13th!!!! Our junior team gets half the proceeds that we as a community raise. Click on the link below to donate and get a chance to win a new Trek MTB, but hurry, time is running out! https://texasmtb.rallyup.com/nicafundraiser2024texas/t/796ec1/Team/Details
