August 24 RCC Newsletter

It looks like spring is finally over in East Texas and summer is here, who’s ready to sweat in August?! The only thing hotter than the temperature are ALL of our volunteers, donors and sponsors who make all of our cycling opportunities possible! Here is your monthly email to keep you updated and in the know:

Happened in July:

Rose City Cycling partners with some of our community sponsors by doing the Bike Leadout for local athletic events such as 5ks or 15ks. This month we supported iTri with the Freedom Fighter 5k. Thank you to those who gave of their time to keep the runners safe and provide encouragement for all. Local race Directors, if you are wanting volunteer support for your running events, reach out to us at rosecitycyclingtyler@gmail.com

Tyler and Rose City Cycling was active on the tour circuit out at the Peach Pedal, Tour de Italy, Tour de Paris, Goatneck, and even had a handful of folks who traveled all the way to Paris France riding along the Tour de France routes. So very cool to see!

Lets give a hand to John Daniel for planning and executing a phenomenal partnership with Boy Scout Troop 370 leading the way in 13 boys earning their Cycling Merit Badges by riding 24 miles at Faulkner, no easy task in the heat and humidity!

Registration opened for the 35th Annual Beauty and the Beast! Registration into BNB24 gets you so much more than an amazing ride. Join us for this iconic year as we celebrate 35 years. Register at www.racethebeast.com Members, don’t forget you have a discount code! Check your bike reg emails from last month or contact rosecitycyclingtyler@gmail.com

Andy Kutach was honored for his many years of service to local cycling and the Junior NICA program. Quite notably, this year we had 5 seniors graduating highschool that race with our Junior Race team. 4 of them have chosen to pursue higher education at this point and were awarded $1,000 scholarship each from Rose City Cycling. Congratulations to Willow, Blake, Alex, Christian and Kegan for being such an incredible example for our juniors to follow. Best wishes in your endeavors!

ETX Trails Team and Rose City Cycling launched  a 4 phase enhancement project with a partnership for funding and execution. Phase 1 is underway, and Vanguard Trailworks and the ETX Team have been hard at work. Follow the progress on Facebook as it progresses. If you are interested in sponsoring one or part of the phases, contact Justin Brown or Michaelle White.

The Summer Cycling Party 2024 was a huge success. 80+ riders showing up for an evening on bikes and kicking back on the FRESH Patio. A huge thank you goes out to all our community partners and sponsors for this event for helping provide such a great evening for our community, and to the phenomenal volunteers who made it happen! Simpson's Fitness & Adventure Sports, Holiday Inn Tyler, Ride Tyler, Fly Tri Racing, TriDot, East Texas Triathletes, Premier Cross Fit, LMNT, Fresh by Brookshire's, Photographer David Kurtz. We raised $300 and additionally 13 fans to donate to PATH. A great evening to be had for all.
