RCC April 2024 Newsletter
April showers bring.......... Oh wait, cyclists don’t like showers!
We are greatly appreciative to our donors for making such a fun 2024 possible.
Here is your monthly email to keep you updated and in the know:
Happened in March:
• Welcome to our new Board elect Vice President, Ben Morgan. Ben has been
a long-standing Tyler athlete to include running and cycling, but for the last
ten years predominantly cycling in all different categories to include MTB,
Gravel, Road and more. You may have seen him out on the Trails, at the
MTB Judgement Day event last summer, or at the Renegade Rambler most
recently. He is one of our organization sponsors and has been serving on
our Gravel committee. He has a passion for all things cycling and creating a
community for ALL cyclists to feel welcome and engaged in cycling
activities. He is also well versed in event planning from his Marathon
Directing days, to the local Energy Summit, and will be the Race Director for
our upcoming Beauty and the Beast! Please join us in welcoming Ben
Morgan to the Rose City Cycling Board.
• Bike Leadouts have been a blast this month! We had 20+ riders show up at the FRESH 15, and
then followed that up at the Azalea Run Leadout. Don’t forget to log your hours as volunteers for
your store voucher. Opening again in July! https://rccyclingtyler.com/ under the volunteer section.
• Rattle Snake Gravel Grinder was some great fun and was worth the trip to
Sweetwater, TX. It was a nice change of scenery with a different
terrain. There were some challenging dirt climbs, some technical double
track and some great views. If you missed this one, there are more fun
ones to come. Get out and Gravel.
• Women’s MTB Skills clinic was a hit with ladies learning how to fix tubeless
tire problems, air shocks, and even fix a chain if needed. Stay tuned for the
next event May 11th!
• Our NICA team ROCKED at Erwin Park, clenching FIRST place!! We had
several strong top 5 individual finishes.
• Rose City mountain bikers did great in TMBRA's last races not only at Bent
Wheel with multiple placings, but at Cameron Park to include podiums and
by multiple team members at each. Way to go!
• We had a great turnout at the Shamrock Shuffle & Shred Duathlon. A huge
thanks goes to East Texas Trail Advocates for all their hard work to bring us
such a fun event!
• Beauty and the Beast dates were announced: October 11-13th will be a
weekend of fun for the ENTIRE family with events for everyone. 10 mile fun
ride, Tour rides, Kids Cup, Crit and Road Race, and even some gravel mixed
in. Stay tuned for more details soon! If you are interested in helping with
this iconic event, please reach out to rosecitycyclingtyler@gmail.com for
more information.

our junior racers that weekend. Rose City Racing/Cycling will have tents out
there for the weekend and we’d love to see you. Bring your lawn chairs and
come cheer. We would love to show the youth lots of support and have a
good turnout for the NICA race. It is the first time we have had a NICA race
in East Texas. Plus this is the championship race and Division championship
awards will be awarded. There is currently a close battle for the top three
teams with Rose City Racing Composite, North Texas High School, and
Highland Park High School all just a few points from one another. Last year
